We prescribe the eccentric calf raise for our patients as part of our foot and ankle chiropractic rehab protocols. The term “eccentric” refers to the “down” part of any movement, and prolonging this portion of the movement accomplishes 3 important rehab objectives:
1) Builds calf strength
2) Builds ankle control and support
3) Increases tendon strength of the Achilles
We typically prescribe 2 sets to a moderate “burn” on each leg, with a full recovery between sets, 2x/week for our patients.
