This exercise both stretches and strengthens your calves. To engage your midsection, sit on a balance ball instead of a chair and place your feet close together.

1. Sit on a bench or chair.
2. Place dumbbells on your knees.
3. Keep your back straight and your abs tight.
4. Raise your heels as high as you can.
5. Flex your calves at the top of the movement.
6. Return your heels to the floor.
